BRIDGE AND FOLLY

GENERAL LOOK of the BRIDGE AND FOLLY
The shape of the bridge looks quite simple, not that strange or amazing. However, even if it looks "less" , there are lots more content under the appearance. Every element of the school is designed differently on location, size, orientation and even the material, because of the difference of the function, the need of the students and stuffs. Instead of using a lot of glass to make the building looks cooler, I consider more about the acquirement of privacy.Instead of shaping all the elements in the same (or familiar) size and orientation to make the building looks more in order, I treat each of them differently. With those consideration, I tried to make my bridge look unique and distinct and interesting.

There are so many things to think about on the architectural issue. Every step takes tons of thinking but I know what I consider right now is just like a small piece of cake compares to the real design for the architects in the future. Thus, more respect to the architects and architecture rises."Looks less" is not less. It is huge amount of thinking that makes the architecture "more".

WATER ROOF AND THE SIGHT OF THE HALL INSIDE
The water roof and walls keep the air temperature being mild for human beings.Besides, the water running inside the wall just keep the bridge being energetic and refreshing.

IMAGE OF THE CORRIDOR
Inspired by the corridor of the red center at M floor, I designed the glass wall on the both sides. The corridor connects the main building and the private space. The glass walls provide safety and a different feeling of view when getting through the corridor.

ELEMENTS
COMPUTER LAB------PUBLIC SPACE
The computer lab is designed as public space. Glass walls and high roof ensuring the sunlight gain and a wide range of view.

GALLERY------PUBLIC SPACE
Gallery is settled just at the entrance. It is open for everyone for anytime.

DESIGN STUDIO------OPEN SPACE

 LECTURE THEATER------PUBLIC SPACE
The lecture theater is an open space because it is suited for everyone but it also requires some privacy when the classes are in progress. Accordingly, I designed the stairs on the side and a screen on the back for blocking sight outside.

LIBRARY------OPEN SPACE
Resulting from the consideration of saving space I create the library just on the stairs(Actually, it is a large slope)! The stairs' width is 3m which is wide enough for 100 students to find books and get through at the same time. The texture I used is from the linear movement and provides an interesting feeling when walking up.

WORKSHOP------PUBLIC SPACE

MEETING SPACE FOR STUDENTS------PUBLIC SPACE

The meeting space for students is on the 2nd and 3rd floors outside. Students can talk with each other, share ideas and do some sports outside here with good ventilation and sunlight. Trees are settled on the roof provide shades and oxygen for students.

MEETING ROOM FOR STUFF------PRIVATE SPACE
The meeting room is just at the end of the corridor. The walls ensure the privacy inside.Besides, the location makes sure there will not be too many students get here if not necessary. Thus, it will be quiet and private space for most of the time.

OFFICES FOR STUFF------PRIVATE SPACE

RESEARCH SPACE FOR STUFF
The research space is located just beside the meeting room at the end of the corridor. The location keeps the space quiet and is apart from the main building.
